The WGSA will be hosting a panel at Durban FilmMart SA!
Join us and our expert panellists as we talk about 'The African Aesthetic: What Makes African Stories Unique?'
When you speak of Nollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood, people can immediately conjure up images of the style and flare of films and stories that those regions thrive on. Even on a country by country basis, K-Drama, Japanese, French and even Italian film all have very distinct storytelling styles. Can we say the same for films and television from the African diaspora? Do we have unique storytelling voices that make our stories stand out from others? Do we sufficiently tap into our rich history of storytelling in modern ways? And in a world of increasing globalisation, is there space for African storytellers to collaborate with writers and filmmakers from across the African diaspora and from other regions of the world?
Start Time: 13:30
End Time: 14:30
Duration: 1h
Venue: Elangeni Hotel – Suite 5
